"Family Firm Governance For A Successful Succession" will be presented by Dr. George Vozikis, Director of The Institute for Family business.

Family firm succession is a critical issue, but its antecedent, namely family member involvement and their perceptions about the governance of the business, is not examined as thoroughly in family business research and practice. In order for a succession process to be effective the family firm must ensure that there is an adequate pool of succession candidates that will be appropriately prepared and willing to take over from the incumbent. The nature and the degree of family involvement in the governance of the family firm and their perceptions affect succession planning, because a successful succession is critical for both the survival and growth of the business as well as the continued prosperity of the family members. Family members working in the business create through their perceptions family ties and cohesion that are very important for the sustainability and the longevity of the firm as these perceptions bring consistency and unity of purpose.

There will be an open forum for group discussion, followed by a question and answer period with our guest speaker. At the conclusion of the workshop, join us for an opportunity to network with other family business owners and IFB members, while enjoying wine and cheese.
